Dental implants offer many benefits including:

  • Enhances chewing comfort
  • Improves aesthetic appearance
  • Natural looking tooth replacement
  • Provides support for partial or full dentures
  • Prevents bone deterioration
  • Supports facial structure

The placement of dental implants usually involves one or two surgical procedures, depending on our surgeon’s medical assessment.

Firstly, implants are placed within your jawbone by your surgeon making an incision in your gums to expose the bone. Your surgeon then drills a hole into the bone and places the implant. Your incision will then be sutured so your gum closes over the implant.

In most cases, placing a single dental implant requires about one hour.

For the first three to six months following dental implant surgery, the implants are left buried beneath the surface of the gum, so they gradually bond with the jawbone. Patients should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat soft foods during this time.

The second phase of the dental implant procedure begins once the implant has bonded to the jawbone. Our MIC surgeons will attach small posts to the implant which will act as the anchor for the artificial tooth. When the artificial teeth are placed, the posts will not be seen. The process takes about six to eight months in total, with patients experiencing minimal disruption and discomfort.
